The daily gelato journal, by Jennifer
Saturday June 19, Milan
First day in Italy, first gelato
I got melon and lemon, because they are anagrams of eachother so they must taste good together.
The melon (cantalope) was amazing, it tasted just like eating fresh melon.
on nom nom!
Sunday June 20
BarSport in Villastrada
I got an orange flavor that wasn't just regular orange, it was like a very sweet vanilla ice cream with orange jelly blobs in it. It was good but not the best flavor I've had.
Monday June 21
No gelato, what happened here??
Tuesday June 22
I made up for gelato-less Monday by getting it several times on Tuesday.
1. BarSport in Villastrada. Walked to town at lunchtime, the market was closed so I got strawberry and lemon gelato and explored the cemetery. Strawberry was especially good.
2. After dinner in Castiglione Del Lago, I forget what flavor I got but I think it might have been blood orange or hazelnut.
Wednesday June 23
Siena
After dinner I got green apple (melo verde) and caramel gelato. Going for the caramel apple effect.
The green apple was sooo good.
Thursday June 24
Suren brought back gelato for everyone in the afternoon. I am not sure what flavors I got, one of them was chocolate and the other was maybe vanilla or tiramisu. It was very melted but stil delicioso.
Friday June 25
Rome
Watermelon and Mandarin orange, the watermelon was really outstanding
Saturday June 26
No gelato today! I did have a cannoli though.
Sunday June 27
Milan
Stracciatella , which is like chocolate chip, only the bits of chocolate are very fine shards
Monday June 28
On the plane coming home they served this little cup of ice cream, vanilla with a fudge swirl. The label said "gelato" but it was a travesty, a mockery of the word after the amazing gelato I ate this week.
Best gelato of the trip: tied between the cantalope melon and watermelon
Happy nomming!
